Things I wish I knew before I started ivf.
My main one would definitely be to hope for the best outcome, but guard yourself that it might not work out like that.
This sounds harsh, but honestly, I went into ivf so naive. I thought we would breeze through it and it did go well for us, we got some good embryos. But then I thought we just needed to find a surrogate to help us and first embryo transfer we would be expecting a baby.
It was tough finding a surrogate to help us, but when we did, the first transfer worked! Never did I think we would have a miscarriage, and then another one.
I was so naive to it just ‘working out how I imagined it should’. People always say be positive, but I was and it still didn’t bring the outcome I wanted. So I always think being realistic to all outcomes is better for me to mentally prepare myself.
