A beggar was begging with a bowl full of pencils. A young manager passed by, threw him a dollar, and hurried to the train station to board. Just as the train was about to leave, he suddenly jumped off the train, returned to the beggar, and picked up the pencils from the bowl. “I’ll take a few pencils. They’re worth the dollar I gave you. I think you’re a businessman like me.” After saying this, he got back on the train.
Six years later, the beggar and the manager met at a party. Now the beggar had changed his clothes and was dressed in a full suit of clothes. As soon as he saw the manager, he went straight to him and said, “You may not remember me, but I remember you,” and they talked about their encounter at the train station. The young manager was surprised and asked, “If I remember correctly, you were begging at that time. What are you doing here now?” The former beggar said, “You would be surprised if you knew what you did to me that day. Instead of giving me alms, you gave me silver. I took a few coins and said, ‘They are worth the dollar I gave you earlier. I think; you are a businessman like me.’ When you left, I immediately started arguing with myself. ‘What am I doing here? Why am I here?’ I asked myself over and over again. And that day, I decided that I had to rebuild my life for the better, and at that moment, I packed my bag and set off on my journey. And so it was.
"I am honored to be here today," he said, continuing his speech, "I am so grateful to you for giving me back my dignity at that time. You don't know it, but you have changed my life."
