International Open Access Week draws attention to the importance of Open Access (OA) both within the research community and beyond.
This year’s theme focuses on the question of ‘Who Owns Our Knowledge?’, asking us to consider how communities can reassert control over the knowledge they produce in a time of disruption. It involves an exploration of who has access to education and research, how knowledge is created and shared, where it has come from, and whose voices are recognized and valued.
MDPI has been committed to the principles of OA for 25 years and continues to prioritize the advancement of open scientific exchange. All of the material within MDPI’s 485+ journals is free to read, distribute, and reuse, so long as it is cited correctly.
In the UK, we are continuing with MDPI’s mission to lead the global transition to Open Access publishing. Members of societies who are affiliated with an MDPI journal, as well as those institutions that are part of the Institutional Open Access Program, benefit from discounts to their Article Processing Charges. We also regularly offer waivers to authors or reviewers looking to publish in MDPI UK.
