Rhodon Films Fuelled by your dreams, led by our imagination

It is my pleasure to share a project we filmed at Manchester Art Gallery for Captain Simon Sharp, Esq. of Nautilus Gin Experiences.
Alongside the homepage video, we also created a shorter social version which you can see on our YouTube channel.

Normally, we write the script so the main film doubles as the source for the short. But Simon has a real gift with words, so instead of repurposing, we built a separate script just for social. Short, sharp, memorable.

Filming with Simon was a genuinely great experience, and I think you can feel that energy in the final footage.

I’ve posted about how many people are surprised when they film with us; they expect stress, pressure, awkwardness. But we put a lot of effort into making the process enjoyable, because it changes everything.

If someone feels tense on camera, the audience feels it too.
And tension kills trust.

When people are relaxed and having fun, the tone is natural, the message lands, and the viewer believes what they’re hearing.

That’s why the experience behind the camera matters just as much as what ends up in front of it.

Most homepage videos don’t work.

Having a video on your website isn’t enough, it has to be designed to convert visitors into enquiries. The trick is simple: speak the language of your potential clients and then reinforce that message with real customer proof. This film for RBW does exactly that. Shot at their office and presented by the owner, it clearly explains what they do and follows it with a client testimonial that confirms the promise.

If you’re looking to improve how your website converts visitors into enquiries, let’s talk.

I’m so pleased to share this testimonial. We have done a number of jobs with the Movement and Wellbeing Clinic. We’ve filmed the owner (Ed) at his clinic and also as he’s done presentations at a few locations. Recently, we have also photographed his team for his website, so it’s a pleasure to share the words of a regular customer.

There’s something that gets me every time, watching people light up when they talk about what they love. Whether it’s a chef chasing a Michelin star, a world-class photographer tweaking the perfect frame, or the countless experts I’ve been lucky enough to meet on set, that passion, that attention to detail, it never stops inspiring me.

Recently, I had the chance to photograph John from the Ancoats Bag Company. What struck me wasn’t just his craftsmanship (which is next-level), but the way he talked about his work, the lining of the bags, the fabric, the way a buckle sits just right. That kind of love for detail? It’s rare. And it’s joyful to witness.

And as a bonus: I spotted posters from an iconic TV show and one of the greatest films ever made on his wall. I’m not naming names, but if you’ve got a sharp eye, let me know if you spot them in the photos.

Have a scroll through the images, I hope they reflect some of the magic I saw in his workshop.

And if you’re after a beautiful, handmade bag crafted right here in Manchester, check out his site. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

It is such a pleasure to share this testimonial. Business Introductions has been our favourite networking event. Jason R Rhodes has been going for years, and it’s really helped him go from a nervous networker to someone who enjoys the opportunity to mingle with like-minded business people.

Each month Marian Arnold-Lawson gets one of Manchester's premier locations to hold the networking event. So as well as meeting great people, we also get the chance to sample the best establishments in Manchester.

If you’re free on the 25th we highly recommend attending The Foundry Project from 5:30. You never know, this could be the opportunity that changes your career or the start of your venture into self-employment and your dream job.

If you know me, you probably know where I’ll be on the last Wednesday of the month, at the Business Introductions Networking event.

I’ve been going for years. I started out as a nervous networker, unsure what to say or how to say it. But thanks to the warm atmosphere, the brilliant guests, and the ever-welcoming Marian Arnold-Lawson, I’ve grown into someone who genuinely looks forward to networking.

Showing up regularly to the same event helped me relax, build real connections, and let the real me shine through.

This month’s event is at The Foundry Project in the heart of Manchester’s Northern Quarter. A perfect setting for a relaxed, friendly event that brings together a vibrant mix of businesses.

A few years ago, we made a video with Marian to capture the feel of the event and I think we did just that. Have a watch:

If you're free, book a spot, it’d be great to see you there.

A while back, we worked with Jon Twigge from Potentialisation.

Like many projects, it began with some uncertainty, a few rough interviews, a bit of camera anxiety, and the usual question: will this really come together?

I was proud of the end result but even more so when we received this testimonial.

If you’re thinking about using video in your business and want to make sure it works as well as it should, feel free to get in touch. We are always happy to share ideas.

If your business is hard to explain, that’s not a weakness, it’s a competitive edge waiting to be unlocked.

We love working with companies that have complex offerings.
It pushes us out of our comfort zone, forces us to truly understand, and challenges us to simplify without dumbing down.
That’s how you make something that not only informs but also inspires.

A while back, we had the chance to work with Potentialisation, founded by the brilliant Jon Twigge.

He wanted a video that did more than explain the offer, it had to reflect the quality of the people behind it.
Directing people with multiple doctorates? Definitely a challenge. But honestly, one of the most rewarding shoots we’ve ever had.

If your offer is tricky to explain, that’s exactly why video might be the tool you need.
For inbound: it gives prospects clarity before they even speak to you.
For outbound: it gives you a film that opens doors and makes conversations easier.

Let’s tell your story the way it deserves to be told.

The Problem with Logos at the Start of Corporate Videos (Yes, We Said It)

At Rhodon Films, there's one thing we see time and time again that quietly sabotages otherwise great corporate videos:
A logo at the start.

We get it. You’re proud of your brand (and rightly so). But let’s talk about why leading with your logo might not be doing you any favours:
Why It Doesn’t Work

1. Your Logo Isn’t the Hook
Unless you're Nike or Apple, most people won’t stick around just because your logo flashes on screen. Even the big names don’t rely on this approach.

2. You Have 0.7 Seconds to Connect
That’s right—on social platforms, you have less than a second to emotionally hook someone. Logos aren’t emotional. Problems, tension, empathy? That’s what stops the scroll.

3. You’re Wasting Your Best Real Estate
The first 5 seconds of any video are gold dust. Use them to say, “We see you. We get your challenge. We can help.” Not, “Here’s our logo.”

So, What Works Better?

For Social Media:

Start with a problem your ideal client wrestles with.
Use a question they’ve asked out loud.
Show them you understand, and that this video is worth their time.

For Your Homepage Video:
Lead with a warm welcome, not a cold intro.
Connect with the reason they came to your site in the first place.

Save the Logo for the End:
When you’ve delivered value—when you’ve sparked trust, offered clarity, and solved a problem—that’s when your logo means something. Now it says:
“That helpful, human video? That was us.”

We’re not anti-branding. We’re pro-impact.
And starting with your audience—not yourself—is how you make it.

What’s your take—have you seen videos fall into the logo trap?
