🇬🇧 UK Immigration Changes – July 2025

Big changes to UK immigration are here this July. Here's what you need to know 👇

🛑 1 July – ARAP Scheme Closed
The Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy is now closed to new applicants.

💼 22 July – Skilled Worker Route Overhaul
• Only jobs at RQF Level 6+ (degree level) now qualify
• Care worker roles closed to overseas applicants
• Salary thresholds raised
• Temporary Shortage List (TSL) introduced (limited roles, no dependants)
• Transitional protections apply for existing visa holders & CoS issued before 22 July

🏡 16–29 July – Settlement & Long Residence Changes
• Private Life route: Settle after 5 years (was 10)
• UK-born children: Eligible after 7 years’ residence
• EUSS: Settle after 30 months of residence in a 5-year window
• Time under deception no longer counts toward long residence
• Time in Jersey, Guernsey, or Isle of Man now counts toward UK settlement

✈️ New ETA Rules
• Updates for Irish transit, creative workers & some US government personnel
