Now, in 2026, Madrid want to sign Rodri, a Ballon d’Or winner and arguably the best midfielder in the world, with one year remaining on his deal.

If Madrid really want Rodri, why should City let one of the best players in the world, who has just been named Player of the Tournament at the FIFA Club World Cup, leave on the cheap?

There’s a reason why City are demanding up to €100M: they are under no pressure to sell. If Madrid don’t meet City’s valuation, Rodri stays. Simple as that. 🙂‍↕️

While Everton would entertain another loan, City would prefer to sell Grealish permanently as he enters the final year of his contract.

🚨 UPDATE: Manchester City still hope to secure a contract renewal with Rodri but they have yet to receive a positive response from the player, as his wish is to join Real Madrid.

City have not ruled out the possibility that, if no agreement is reached this summer, Rodri enters the final season of his contract without extending.

While Paris Saint-Germain are not in the market for Rodri, Madrid continue to work on a deal for the midfielder. Personal terms are not expected to be an issue, while negotiations with Man City are still pending.
