In the latest episode of the We Can Work It Out podcast, I speak with Professor Gregor Gall, one of the most influential scholars of industrial relations in the UK, to move beyond the media image and examine the deeper story behind Mick Lynch, not as a caricature or a headline figure, but as someone shaped by a particular set of historical, social and political experiences that matter just as much as his now well known media performances.

In the latest episode of the We Can Work It Out podcast, I sat down with Professor Rebecca Zahn & Professor Miriam Kullmann to discuss their article published in the Industrial Law Journal, titled “Discovering the Contributions of Academic Wives to the Development of Labour Law: Liesel Kahn-Freund.” It is one of the most intellectually rich and personally affecting conversations we have recorded - read the article about the podcast with links to listen to the episode -https://substack.com//note/p-191988690?r=4ctab9&utm_medium=ios&utm_source=notes-share-action

Tomorrow we launch our new research report The Impact of Mass Dismissals on Maritime Workers: A Study into the Actions of P&O Ferries in March 2022, written by John Lansdown, Dr Jonathan Lord and Saad Basset and funded by the University of Salford.
The report draws on original research with dismissed seafarers to examine the human, legal and institutional consequences of the mass sacking of 786 workers in March 2022. The study explores issues of fairness, employment law protections, trade union responses and the long term impact on workers’ careers and wellbeing.
The findings raise important questions about employment rights, maritime labour protections and the effectiveness of current regulatory frameworks in preventing similar events in the future.
Join us tomorrow for the official launch event, where we will present the findings of the study, hear directly from one of the seafarers affected, and discuss the policy reforms needed to protect workers from similar injustices.
If you are interested in labour law, industrial relations, maritime employment or employment rights more broadly, this event will be of particular relevance.
