🍳 TikTok star takes on a Margate food challenge!

Alfie Mitchell visited Dalby Cafe in Margate while celebrating reaching 650,000 followers on TikTok and 120,000 on Instagram. 📱🎉

He took on the café’s food challenge but didn’t manage to finish it. Alfie said people who have completed it make it look easy, but warned others “don’t let it fool you” — it isn’t! 😅

There was still a big thumbs-up for the food, with Alfie giving it 10/10. ⭐🍳

🌿 Did you catch Margate’s Sunken Garden Eco Fair?

The event took place at The Sunken Garden, with a day focused on nature, gardening and sustainability. 🌍🌱

Visitors discovered local and national organisations, explored interesting projects, took part in informative workshops and enjoyed inspiring talks from expert gardeners and ecologists.

This year’s themes included wildlife, ecology, gardening in dry conditions and sustainability.

It was wonderful to see an event bringing people together around nature the environment. 🌿 Well done to everyone involved! 🌱👏

🚒 Well done to the Kent Fire and Rescue Service! ❤️

Fire crews have spent hours tackling the major fire at the Grand Burstin Hotel in Folkestone, which broke out early on Saturday.

At the height of the incident, 26 fire engines and specialist units were sent to the scene, with crews working in breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze. Around 280 people were evacuated from the hotel, while emergency teams worked to make the area safe.

A huge well done to the firefighters and everyone involved in the response for their hard work throughout the incident. 👏

Toy lovers and bargain hunters can head to The Centre Birchington for the Hidden Treasures Toy & Flea Market on Saturday 7 November. 🧸🛍️

The event will run from 10am until 2:30pm at The Centre on Alpha Road, Birchington, CT7 9EG. 📍 Visitors can browse the market and search through the stalls for toys and flea market treasures.

🌊 Ramsgate gets national recognition as a top seaside place to live!

A new AOL list has placed Ramsgate No. 1 among 11 seaside towns to move to in 2026. 🏆The list also gives Margate the No. 2 spot, putting two Kent towns at the top.

The research by My Home Move Conveyancing looked at 108 coastal towns across England and Wales, considering factors including average house prices, property availability, summer temperatures, happiness and life satisfaction.

Ramsgate’s average property price was £283,069, while Margate’s was £295,214. The study recorded happiness rates of over 90% for both towns. 🌊

❤️ Dover RNLI thanks the community for standing with them

The whole team at Dover RNLI has thanked its supporters, donors and well-wishers for their overwhelming support over the past couple of weeks.

The lifeboat station said it had faced a barrage of “ill-informed, unjustified and hateful” commentary, alongside harassment and abuse.

The RNLI has also addressed misinformation surrounding its purpose and lifesaving work in the Channel.

Its crews are tasked by HM Coastguard to help people in distress, “whenever, wherever and whoever they are”. Dover has had a lifeboat since 1837, and the team remains committed to saving lives at sea. 🌊
