==FINAL ISSUE==
The Winter edition of the Melbourn Magazine has just arrived from the printers and our faithful delivery team will be bringing a copy to your door soon, weather permitting! Spare copies will soon be available at Melbourn Hub as usual.
This is a very special issue as this will genuinely be the final issue ever of the Melbourn Magazine.
Peter Simmonett and his team have been working tirelessly for an astonishing 30 years to produce and distribute the village magazine to every residence in Melbourn quarterly. When the original team initially wanted to retire a couple of years ago due to a lack of volunteers, I was one of the new members that stepped up to try and support the magazine so that it could go on a bit longer, and I'm incredibly glad that I helped prolong the run of the publication for a while at least. However, as explained in this issue, this will really be the final ever Melbourn Magazine. See the Editorial section and article on page five for the full story from start to finish of the publication.
I would like to thank Peter and his team on behalf of the whole village. You have brought a much-loved magazine to our homes every season for a staggeringly long time. Not only is the magazine of the highest quality, but you've helped keep the community connected by sharing news, information, and the all-important bin collection schedule! Thank you to everyone that has worked behind the scenes to make this possible, from those providing content and the proof readers, the advertising team and the advertisers that help us cover the printing costs, Langham Press for printing and boxing the 2,500 copies each quarter, the deliverers that face all the elements to get the magazines into your home, and everyone that has supported the Melbourn Magazine over the years. The biggest thanks goes to Peter, who has spearheaded this whole venture and made it all possible. What an amazing achievement, and I have to say it has been an absolute honour and privilege to have been involved in such a fantastic community effort.
At the end of the article, there is mention of the possibility of a new publication being created, and I can now share that a new team has formed to start the Melbourn Village Voice, which will begin with its first issue in Spring 2026. I'm delighted to be a part of the team getting this off the ground and we will do our best to continue the legacy of providing an informative and useful quarterly magazine for free to the village of Melbourn.
