Steven Smith - Author has just released a book perfect for the season! Stocking Stuffers: A collection of festive flash fiction and short stories is out now! "It's obvious that the author loves Christmas; it shows through every word of this collection of drabbles (100-word fiction) and short stories. There are some gems among the drabbles, catching the spirit of the season in 100 words, and the longer pieces show the full depth of his ability.
From an early tale of Edison Crow, Steven's Steampunk hero, to the mysterious case investigated by Detective Felix North in "The Ghosts of Christmas Passed," there's clever plotting and immaculate presentation.
A great way to while away the hours, highly recommended." Amazon reviewer

Kate Rigby - Books and Poetry released Little Guide To Pet Peeves: from an autist's perspective.

First written as a series of blogs before and during lockdown, I have expanded it in several areas - it is a growing and evolving project. Following my unfashionably late ASD and ADHD diagnosis in my sixties, I realised how pertinent some of this was to the strong dislikes and aversions I and my ...

Richard Dee has release four titles in 2025!! Ripples is his latest. "I've been lucky to read many of Richard Dee's works. Whether it's cosy crime, steampunk, fantasy, or sci-fi, I've yet to read something I've not enjoyed. And Ripples is no different. It follows a down on his luck homeless man, Carlos Dayne, as his life changes in ways he could never have imagined.

When Carlos Dayne finds the body of a well-dressed man that looked uncannily like himself, he sees an opportunity to lift himself out of the poverty he now lived in. He assumes the identity of a dead man, launching himself into a new life. With new-found wealth, Carlos is sure his life will be so much better. Fate has a different idea for him, with unforeseen bumps in the road that could have disastrous consequences as he fights to take on the life of another.

I fell in love with this story from the very beginning. The potential for trouble was evident, and while it is a sci-fi story, it's not heavy or in your face. A fantastically balanced story filled with threat, corporate intrigue and a light sprinkling of sci-fi for good measure." Amazon reviewer.

Carlos Dayne is out of options. Homeless and destitute, he’s hunting in the bins for food when he finds the body. In death, Dominik Lind offers Carlos the chance of a new life. Dominik was on his way to another planet. All Carlos has to do is pretend to be him and take his place. With nothing ...

K.M Allan's wonderful Writing and Editing Checklists: Everything You Need To Take Your Book From First Draft To Publication was released back in June and continues to be a vital tool for aspiring writers! "This book is awesome and a must-have for all writers. It is chock full of great checklists, including a lot you may never have even thought of.

For those, like me, who need to have structure and something to follow, checklists are the secret sauce. I have used so many of these already and know I'll be using many more as I move through my writing journey.

The thought that went into all these checklists was perfect and the companion checklist book, available on the author's website is a wonderful addition to all new and experienced authors." Amazon reviewer

Blurb:

In a crumbling mansion on the north coast of Scotland, the Dowager grows old; exiled there by her son, she dreams of her girlhood and waits for death. When her tenants keep talking of a monster in the sea, the Dowager becomes obsessed by the strange creature that might be living in the bay beyond her windows.

The Kirk Minister, Mr. MacKenzie, prides himself on being a man of the enlightenment and refuses to countenance such superstition among his flock. Even when his daughter, Mary, sees the creature, half-woman half-fish, trapped in the ice of the frozen burn, the Minister dismisses it as an absurd fancy although all his parishioners know Mary to be the most truthful of girls.

Mary grows as obsessed with the sea monster as the Dowager and along with her overwhelming desire to see the strange creature once more, she begins to develop other secret, passionate yearnings that fill her with shame.

Kirsty MacDonald, maid-of-all work at the Manse, claims the sea monster must portend disaster and she is right for the Laird has grand plans to improve the estate. He brings in an ambitious young land agent, William Patterson, to evict all the tenants from their crofts in order to turn the land over to an army of sheep.

What no one expects, the Laird least of all, is that the tenants will find an ally in the Dowager but in standing up to her unscrupulous son, she knows she will have to pay a terrible price.
