Success on social media isn’t always measured in numbers. It isn’t always something you can “count”.
Sometimes it looks like other people advocating for you and your business when you aren’t in the room.
This was a really cool moment for me earlier this week. Someone posted in a Milton Keynes Facebook Group looking for MK-based food influencers and every. single. comment. mentioned me 🥹
The reality is, this type of advocacy doesn’t happen overnight. It took me years of hard work on my blog and social media content to get to the point where I became associated with independent food and drink.
Then slowly but surely, from about 2020/2021, I began to see my name pop up in conversations on local Facebook groups where people were looking for food recommendations.
It’s a bit *too* successful sometimes - If a new food-related brand or event pops up, people often think it’s mine 🤣
I don’t know the people on this post personally - They are all part of my online community in some way and it is clear that I have built that trust with them. I’m so damn proud!
I try to apply this mindset to my clients. What content can we share that will build trust with our community? How can we make this brand/business/person the ‘no brainer’ recommendation when someone asks for it?
Building trust with your community is a slow burner, but once you’ve nailed it, the results speak for themselves!
p.s Social etc. has space for new social media management clients starting from September 2025! Or, if you are a local food-related brand or business and want to team up with me on an influencer campaign, give me a shout! 😎
