When I decided to record a classical version of I Will Always Love You, I wrote to Dolly to ask for her permission. In true Dolly style, she couldn’t have been more gracious, giving me her blessing to record the first ever version of the song in a foreign language - in Italian as L’Amore Sei Tu. Something I will always treasure. I was lucky enough to meet her backstage at the O2, thanks to our shared agent and dear friend Neil Warnock, and she was every bit as warm, funny and fabulous as you would imagine. A phenomenal songwriter, artist, businesswoman and philanthropist, with that wonderful ability never to take herself too seriously. Still one of my favourite Dolly lines of all time… “It costs a lot of money to look this cheap.” RIP Dolly Parton, we will ALWAYS love you 💔💔💔
