And the winner of the MC Therapy Codeword Puzzle is… Marion

We are happy to announce that Marion from Muir of Ord is our codeword puzzle winner of our Spring issue. She received a £30 voucher from MC Therapy.

There will be another opportunity to win a voucher with the codeword puzzle in our next issue that will be out in June 2025!

PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

Deadline: 10 May

Calling all budding photographers! We will be running a photography competition in future issues of Muir Matters. For each issue we will have an experienced local photographer judging the competition. The winning photograph will be used for the front cover of the next issue and the top 5 short-listed photos will be displayed in the Hub!

Our first judge will be Matt Sillars (www.mattsillars.com). Matt has a wealth of photography experience, including 30 years teaching photography at Inverness College and UHI. He is co-founder and chair of the FLOW International Photography Festival, Director of the Scottish Society for the History of Photography and co-founder and Chair of the Inverness Darkroom (www.theinvernessdarkroom.org.uk)

WRITING COMPETITION

Who doesn't love a good story?! We will have a regular creative writing competition and the next winning entry in each category will be published in the next issue. We will alternate between short stories and poems.

There are 2 categories; one for adults and a youth category for under 16s. The competition will be judged by the MM editorial team and will be judged based on how engaging the story is, how well written it its, how original and how well the title fits the story.

Anyone can get in touch with suggestions, and if you have a story to tell then send it in! Contributions to our magazine don’t have to be polished; if it meets our content policy and is something of interest to people in the village, then we want to read it!

You can email us with finished articles or just ideas for articles. We are particularly keen to hear from people who haven’t published before so don’t be shy, we would love to hear from you.
