Viv and Jean's Bookends radio show from 6th June is available on Listen Again, Calder Valley Radio.

We talked about the increasing number of places to get books, and then discussed Hilary Mantel, A Change of Climate; Karen Jay Fowler, We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves; Lorna Dounaeva, The Wedding Party; and Tracy Chevalier, Burning Bright.

The interview was with local author Stephen May, who has written some great books and is a lovely chap.

Our next show is on the 4th July. You have plenty of time to listen to June's episode before we're on again.

Our first show went well, despite a couple of glitches. Jean and I talked about William Boyd, Kate Atkinson, Ian Rankin and Elizabeth Strout.
We have been contacted by Paul, who recommends A Prayer for Owen Meanie; Dave, who says rock biographies are his favourite genre; and Jane, who enjoyed Hags by Victoria Smith.
The pre-recorded interview we played was with Kath Reade, an author, singer-songwriter and meditation leader. She has written travel books, and is currently working on a novel, which has been described by her publisher as "chick-lit noir"
If you missed Friday's show, it will be on www.caldervalleyradio.co.uk The Listen Again function for our show should be up and running by Monday.
Jean and I will be back on air on Friday 2nd May, 2pm.
