2025 / 2026 Premier League:

E.E Lions Receive Massive Financial Boost from Chairman Amb. Anthony Navo;Jr.

Yesterday, I had a productive meeting with the E.E Lions family including the squad, staff, coaches, managers and fans. We also welcomed Moses Bankolay Coker back to the squad after a long injury sojourn.

We discussed the team’s preparation for the upcoming matches, our determination to win more trophies and plans for the future.

Since I became Chairman, we have worked together to ensure that our club continues to occupy the place it deserves because of its rich football history and what it represents for millions of people. That is why we are investing more and providing every possible financial and technical resources to the team.

In addition to the ongoing construction of our playing facility at the Trade Centre , I am pleased to announce that we have allocated billons of additional funding to the Square, in pursuit of 2025 / 2026 Premier League title. Players will receive a significant increase of more than 100% over the previous year.

E.E Lions Football Club remains one of the the most solid clubs in the world of sport in the Africa region. And I am confident that with our capacity for growth and innovation, with the new investment, and with the ambition that characterised our club’s values and winning mentality “ the killers”, we will continue to be the champions and remain one of Sierra Leone leading clubs in the coming years.

Today, we have a significant match against Wilberforce FC at the Approved School Playing Field. I urge our fans to come out and support. Our players are very determined and I am confident that we will soon top the league table.

We look forward to clinching the 2025/ 2026 Sierra Leone Premier League champions.

Sierra Leone’s Steven Caulker retires from Football

Former Leone Stars captain Steven Caulker has officially retired from football at the age of 33.

In a heartfelt message shared on LinkedIn, Caulker reflected on a 17-year career that spanned 18 clubs across 5 countries.

“I had a good taste of Premier League football, played and scored for England, captained Sierra Leone, played in the Olympics, and met some incredible people along the way,” he wrote. “There were highs and serious lows - but I'm grateful for it all.”

Caulker, who switched allegiance from England to Sierra Leone in 2022, earned over 18 caps for the Leone Stars. He is widely regarded as one of the nation’s finest defenders.

The former Tottenham, Swansea, and Cardiff City defender also played in Turkey and most recently served as a player-coach in Iceland.

Caulker now shifts focus fully to coaching, with eyes on guiding the next generation.

“Let’s see what 2026 has in store,” he concluded.
