From tomorrow, Northumbria University’s City Campus transforms into a universe of light, art, performance and celestial wonder. For four magical nights, journey through an after-dark world where creativity meets the cosmos. 🌠🌌

🎨 Artist Call-Out! – Moving Parts Arts

💫Moving Parts Arts (the wonderful folk behind Newcastle Puppetry Festival), are looking for a visual artist to design & illustrate a large-scale scroll for our upcoming Giant Crankie performance.

Deadline 13th December
Fee: £4,000 + materials

A Crankie is a traditional storytelling device where illustrations are pulled across a screen as a story is told. They are creating a giant version that will stand 3 metres tall, for a professional performance in April 2026.

They'd like to hear from:
*Artists based in the North East of England
*Anyone from, or connected to, Tyneside
*Artists with an interest in fantasy, folklore, or local heritage.

Please note that the Crankie scroll will not be realised using digital graphics.

Led by guitarist-vocalist Patrick Mameli, the band’s current lineup delivers the ferocity that has made PESTILENCE a pillar of extreme metal for decades. the Solstice weekend 20th & 21st December, I will be showing my paintings alongside my friends - artists and - at the Old School, Duddo, Northumberland. Free entry, work will be for sale as well as to view. On Sunday afternoon we will close the exhibition at 2.30pm to walk up to Duddo Five Stones stone circle (weather permitting) to celebrate Solstice. Everyone is invited! We'd love to see you there - bring a woolly hat and a hot flask. Alan ###
