Theatre fans can experience an intriguing new 16th Century show billed as Blackadder meets Spooks at the Coro in Ulverston next week.

I, Spie by the Telling Music is an interactive thriller telling the story of how Renaissance musician John Dowland managed to foil an Italian plot on the life of Queen Elizabeth I.

The play, by award-winning writer Clare Norburn and BAFTA-nominated director Nicholas Renton, features Elizabethan tavern, street and courtly masque music performed by live band.

The Telling Music are known for their innovative and thought-provoking takes on classical culture and works and they performed to a huge Coro crowd with their show What the Dickens, last autumn.

I, Spie takes place on Wednesday 12 June at 7.30pm. For tickets call 01229 588994 or visit thecoro.co.uk
