it's THURSDAY aka day 4 of hanging things on my walls every day this week. "This week" is that the working week or do I have to do this for 7 days? Asking for a friend πŸ˜… today's wasn't too bad, the most tricky thing was getting the second shelf level with the first! And tell me about your little DIY jobs - how long have you been putting them off?

it's WEDNESDAY aka day 3 of hanging things on my walls. This threw me a few curveballs! I did not think there'd be wires directly behind the unit!! I think it's an old shaver socket so I'll probably put that back. My lovely new cabinet that I bought months ago, that came in a rectangle box ... was not already constructed. I love flat pack! Well, normally I do, but I wasn't expecting to do it when I was already rushing after work πŸ˜… And Then! The mounting hooks weren't even on the unit so I had to hang the brackets at different heights to counter it! Hope tomorrow's "hang" goes better πŸ˜‚

it's TUESDAY that means day 2 of hanging stuff on my wall. Today is my hallway mirror. The big hooks were buried deep in some random moving boxes. But I found them! Guess who should have got the big level out instead of eye balling the hooks? πŸ‘€ That's why I'm DIY✨ish✨

It's MONDAY and day 1 of hanging one thing on my walls every day for a week. I have been putting these off for ages so come with me as I get one done every night after work. What else do you think I have to hang?

If you somehow missed it, I made a giant chopping board! It's 105cm long and on average 40cm wide. All because my husband wanted a huge one - chef can have whatever he wants πŸ˜‡ I got a huge slab of wood from , cut to size, removed the bark but kept the live edge shape, filled any voids with black CA glue, routed some handles, sanded, sanded, water popped and sanded again. All finished with wood wax. I would 100% make one of these again, super satisfying! 🀩 Dan is absolutely loving using it. He said it feels nicer to cut on, it cleans up really easily and gives him loads of prep space. 10/10 from both of us

This board has been 2 years in the making! Storytime! During lockdown Dan's mental health had taken a dive. But, one of the things that helped him through it was getting into cooking. One of the people who inspired him online was Andy cooks . Next thing know, I'm watching too, getting Dan a dough scraper, and a giant piece of wood so I could make him his very own giant chopping board. Then we decided to move house so there was no point customising it to the size of our old kitchen worktop. 18 months later we finally moved. Soon after, Dan was investing in a new chefs knife and mis en place bowls for prep... Then it was finally time to complete the board. I knew l had to wait for my new circular saw as I didn't want to ruin my expensive slab! Then I had to get some new router bits and some special wood wax for the occasion, and got it done in two weekends! It looks so good in our kitchen WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT GRAIN and Dan is happy to finally have his giant chopping board. Hope you liked this special episode of Hey Babe, What do you Want for Dinner? And if you are into cooking and don't follow Andy... Go check him out! cutting board woodworking live edge

The sights and sounds of making my pull out bin. I did eventually get a new saw after contemplating which battery system to invest in. Luckily I left the drawer fronts to cut later! And I forgot to include in the last video, modifying the skirting to connect the two cabinets. I tried to match the stain of the rest of the kitchen cabinets, but wasn't too bothered if it wasn't exact, at least it was better than the original orange brown varnish!

August round up! I got through a few projects: hallway organisation, and under the stairs but I still haven't shared that, oops! My first floating shelf, tidying up the back and front garden. I have an exciting back garden project coming up soon, wonder if you can guess what it is! How was your August?

Or so thought there was a nest that had fallen out. Looks like it was actually a bat box due to the bottom entry. Don't worry - contacted the council and wildlife trust who look after this woodland and they didn't mind me repairing it as it was an old one that they weren't tracking. Come back for part 2 to see what else am making!
