Here’s how St Michael’s Mount looked back in 1880 compared to today.
From medieval fortress to family home, the island has seen rebellions, sieges and even battles during the Wars of the Roses and the English Civil War.
In 1659 it was bought by Colonel John St Aubyn, and incredibly, the St Aubyn family have lived there for more than 300 years.
