MUTIPLE CASUALTIES ASSISTED PORTAFERRY ROAD:

We have just stood down from a chaotic scene on the Portaferry road. Coastguard Rescue Officers and Specialist rescue officers from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue assisted multiple vehicles including a school bus filled with children.

Officers in full water rescue equipment cleared the road to allow the vehicles to get to safely.

The road is covered in debris and is in a dangerous condition so please do not travel on it until the DFI carry out inspection in the morning.

Heavy rain is now tracking northeast and will continue for the next few hours before clearing just after 20:00. There are serious concerns of continued flooding especially along coastal areas as the tides are now high, low tide is expected after 21:00.
