We want to add back some character to this room before winter sets in. A fireplace is a must! We want it to look like it’s always been there so adding Kuci Design Brick Slips to the faux fireplace and I’ve sourced an old beam from fb to add that country cottage vibe the barn is desperately missing. Wed like to add them around the barn window too!

Not me imagining this at Christmas time 🤣 ChatGPT seeing into my brain again!

What a wonderful day, if not a little emotional 🥺

What a way for to celebrate 25 years in business by teaming up with 🫶🏽

Learning about all the incredible ways Martin House help children and their families was extremely humbling. And to think they are 90% self funded is a real shock! The team are just so lovely. And hearing first hand off Jennie how much they’ve been there to help out them out when needed & how much the centre means to them as a family. 🫶🏽

Our morning routine looks a little different now 🤭

Ad/ Replacing our old broken blind with this beautiful blind was honestly a no brainer. They work off remote control or can be added to your Alexa or other smart hub.

I can ditch the ladders 🤣 and safely do it from the ground.

We actually have the dining room Roman blinds and the kitchen one all set to come down at the same time. It’s unbelievable easy now!

Slowly the barn is starting to feel like our home, the cosy cottage vibes are coming together now 🤍

Worktop Orange ➡️ Raw Natural Oak

Achieving that high end raw oak/ Washed oak look on a budget.

This whole island set cost me £200 on fbmp and I took the challenge on to get me that beautiful pale oak colour.

Firstly I used Acetone to take off the top layer of varnish.
Sanded it with my orbital sander, going through the different grits of sandpaper.
Finished off with my mouse sander to get rid of any of the circular patterns 🤦🏽‍♀️
After a good de dusting I went in with the ISO guard! Applying it in circles and then rubbing it off with the grain.

I then used my .diy sprayer to spray the units for a perfect finish in the colour grounded by

I had previously ordered an island for £1000+ so I saved myself £1000 and got way more storage meaning we can now take down some of the top cabinets 👌

Phase 2 will get done at some point, but this has been a game changer in here!

Phase 1 of the kitchen is complete 🤍

So far we’ve bought a £200 island off
I sanded the worktop down and waxed with isoguard. And painted the cabinets in Grounded by

Added the new flooring which is the same as in the dining room from

Painted over the dodgy green wall at the end.

Phase 2 we’ll be removing the top cupboards, changing the handles, adding panelling over the tiles and panelling the back wall. Then adding beams. I really want to stone clad the sink wall too!

I really want to achieve the country cottage kitchen without ripping it out and starting all over again.

A d| Getting ready for cozy season 🍂🍂

Adding blinds to our small barn windows was always going to be tricky. They are super small and we didn’t want to block the light out, so these linen blinds were the perfect choice. We can use the remote to life them up or down or connect them to Alexa for the full smart home experience!

We opted for the rechargeable motor as the back does get much sunlight as they do offer solar recharging ones too.

They are the perfect addition to our first fully finished room, the dining room.

We’ve lived in the barn for a summer and a cracking summer it has been.

We’ve made a dent on our todo list in the house. Not one room is fully completed 🤣 but we can go back through over winter and snag them.

The kitchen phase 1 is complete. The flooring is down, the island is in. This house feels more like home 🤍
