Litter Afro

Litter Afro Right! AI Phil here. It’s still about the environment, but it’s 100% about the man behind the grabber Hi, I’m Phil!

You know me as the Litter Afro guy, but from now on, I’m showing you the full story—the dyslexia moments, the races, and the absolute madness of my life. I’m passionate about giving back to my community. You’ll find me volunteering with Thirsk & Northallerton Lions and out litter picking. I’m also a keen runner and love taking part in parkrun. Let’s work together to make our local area a better place.

Public bins aren't your personal commercial skips! 🚫📦
It’s disappointing to see street litter bins jammed full of retail packaging and trade waste. Businesses dumping their commercial trash into council bins are dodging waste management fees—which is legally considered fly-tipping.
Now there's no room for actual pedestrian litter, leaving the pavement surrounding it messy.
Businesses need to pay for their own trade waste disposal instead of misusing public facilities. 🛑

Bag 558 in the bag! 🚮✨
Another estate and park loop sorted on today’s walk, taking the 2026 total up to 558 bags collected! Every single piece of rubbish cleared brings us one step closer to the 750-bag target for the year.
Small actions every day add up to a huge difference for our local environment, paths, and green spaces. Massive thanks to everyone in the community who cheers on the cleanups or picks up a bit of litter along their own routes!
Let’s keep the momentum going! 💪🌱

Another one cleaned up and off our streets! 🚮✨
Bag #557 is officially filled and tallied, keeping the momentum going as we push closer to the 750-bag goal for the year.
It’s always satisfying seeing a route looking spotless after a quick pass. Small actions really do add up—let’s keep taking pride in keeping our local areas clean, green, and litter-free! 💚

Unbelievable efficiency from North Yorkshire Council Highways. 🙄 It took weeks for them to remove the temporary sign I reported, and they couldn't even be bothered to take the sandbag anchoring it down. Now we're just left with random fly-tipping courtesy of our own council. Come back and pick up the rest of your job! 🪨⚠️

Bag 556: Done & Dusted! 🧹✨
It’s been a proper busy Wednesday, but there’s always time to keep our local streets and park spaces clean. Headed out for a walk around the estate and nearby parks today, keeping the momentum going and clocking up Bag 556 of the year!
Every single piece cleared makes a huge difference to the community. On to the next one! 🚮🚶‍♂️

Camping isn't an excuse to dump your waste! ⛺️🚮
Leaving behind tents and rubbish like this at Knotto Bottom is fly-tipping, plain and simple. It ruins local nature spots, harms wildlife, and burdens the community to clean it up.
If you pack it in, pack it out. Respect the outdoors so everyone can enjoy them! 🌲💚

555 bags and counting! 🧹✨
Made it to bag #555 today on the litter pick route! Every bit cleared makes a huge difference for our local environment, but there’s still plenty more to do to hit that 750-bag target for the year.
Huge thanks to everyone who stops to chat, honks in support, or pitches in to keep our green spaces clean! Let’s keep the momentum going. 💚♻️

Those Foster's cans deserved a second life, not a spot in the trash! ♻️🍻
Did you know aluminum is 100% recyclable and can be back on the store shelf as a new can in as little as 60 days? Next time you crush a cold one, give it a quick rinse and toss it in the recycling bin. Let’s keep the Aussie spirit big and our footprint small! 🇦🇺🦘

Out around Ashland today getting Bag 554 sorted! Step by step, bag by bag, keeping our local spaces looking their best. Another one ticked off the list on the way to the 750 target! 🟢♻️

Bankhead Park Needs Our Help! 🚮🌳
Heartbreaking to see so much rubbish piling up near the houses and tucked into the bushes in Bankhead Park today—plastic bottles, cans, snack packaging, and even stray shoes.
It’s bad for wildlife and an eyesore for our community. Please remember to use the bins or take your rubbish home with you! Taking just two minutes to pick up a few items makes a huge difference. 💚
