If you didn’t already know, Mill’s Dockyard (where our chandlery is based) is taking part in this year’s Heritage Open Days.
On Sunday 21st of September the yard will be open to the public, there will be refreshments, beautiful old cars and boats on display, great old photos and entertainment in the form of clog and Morris dancers (but don’t let that put you off! 🤣🤣)
Tomorrow (13th) Langley Mill boat yard will be open to visitors and Sandiacre Lock cottages will be open across both events with thanks to Erewash Canal Preservation and Development Association.

You know your a boater when you get excited about…….🤪 🤪
(We’d love to here/dread to think what you guys would fill this gap with!)

We’ve been waiting for todays delivery with all the excitement of a kid at Christmas for the long awaited flexi wire flue brushes! (aka hedgehog on a stick 🦔🦔🦔)

A staple item for any boat with a stove onboard, our usual suppliers discontinued this item some time back and we’ve been searching ever since to find an alternative. Today is the day they have finally arrived! 🎉🎉

We can feel the change in the air, it’s nearly time to light the fire, (I know some have already succumb to temptation!) 🔥but before you reach for the kindling, make sure your flue is swept! 🧹
(And check your CO alarms too!)

Reunited at long last! 😍
The Oxford power couple is back! 💪💪💪

After a long stretch of ‘zero stock available’ the canopy cleaner is now back in store! 🧼🫧🧽🪣

So whip down that cratch and pram cover (which will do wonders for improving the air flow onboard in this warm weather! 🥵) and get your scrub on!

This foaming spray cleaner removes organic grime, including bird p**p 🐦 and leaves a mould resistant finish. (Can be used diluted for a lighter clean.) Cleans and sanitises in one operation.

Follow up with the re-proofer to waterproof and protect from UV which will help to prevent fading of the material. ☀️

‘Hey there, big buoy!’ 🛟

well… it’s a fender not a buoy, but then we couldn’t open the post with a stupid pun!

The cursed and hated rubber fenders… now in XL!!! Wait… hear us out… these larger cousins to the rubber fenders we all know (and mostly hate) are twice as long, larger diameter and comes with over 2meters of quality softline polypropylene rope. They are made of a more forgiving EPDM material than the smaller ones and they also FLOAT (so if they do find their way into the water, they’re less likely to get tangled up on somebody’s prop!)

We were recently approached by a couple of boaters who moor against a pontoon the underside of which sits very close to their gunwale top, they were looking for something to prevent the boat drifting under the pontoon and offer the side of the boat some protection. Voilà!

We have a small batch of these fenders in store to get an idea whether or not it’s something there’s call for, priced at £18.50 each. You’re welcome to come and take a look for yourself.

(Googly eyes not included but can be added at no extra cost. 🤪🤪)

P.S we don’t recommend boating with fenders down. 🛳

We’re really looking forward to this refresher course, which promises to be a hands-on session packed with practical insights. 🛠🛠🛠

We’ll be learning more about Victron system design, prioritising solar over shoreline ☀️☀️☀️, configuration of BMS, MPPT and VictronConnect 🔋🔋🔋, advanced energy management (DC-DC, alternator integration, shorepower switching) ⚙️⚙️⚙️, troubleshooting and system monitoring 📲📲📲 optimising performance and avoiding common pitfalls.
