Movement Twelve: It's In My Room

Singer / songwriter of Luxury Stranger, Simon York releases his third solo album tomorrow (Monday 4 August). Inspired by the death of his mother last year (04/08/24) at the age of only 66 - and his revised thoughts on time, life and our places in the cosmos - More Than Just Movements was recorded in April / May this year, originally intended as a series of instrumentals put to Simon’s memories of the 2001: A Space Odyssey movie…

Simon says: “I just love the way that the film moves, and how it can raise thoughts on who we really are. Despite our development, we’re animals that’re frightened of our own shadow and willing to beat the hell out of our ‘brothers’ just for some water, land and other ‘precious’ things. We’re so easily willing (or led) to see enemies, divisions and tribes - we are still underdeveloped. Nothing profound, I just think people should be working together… It’s no longer survival of the fittest - it’s the richest who will outlive and be the ones to reach out and touch the stars. They have patience and play the long game while those lashing out at each other for the tiniest complaint play right into their hands - by being ‘want it all right now’ and not looking and caring about tomorrow. Instead, they’re thinning their own herd”.

More Than Just Movements is released through Earth-Two Records on Monday 4 August and available to buy at simonyork.bandcamp.com (all revenue will go toward paying for the next and future Luxury Stranger releases)!

This coming Monday sees the release of Simon York’s third solo record, More Than Just Movements! Head to simonyork.bandcamp.com and hit the ‘follow’ button!

Simon (founder member, singer / guitarist and songwriter of Luxury Stranger) decided to release a selection of songs and pieces he wrote and recorded in April / May as part of him coming to terms with the death of his mother last August. The album was preceded by the video for The Racing Man (https://youtu.be/8Zt942AcKEA?si=O00u8LjaC5VZ0-94) which will be released with five additional non-album tracks in September.
