King Charles and Queen Camilla will not take up residence in Buckingham Palace once the landmark’s Ā£370 million refurbishment project is finished.

While Buckingham Palace will remain the operational centre of the monarchy and host royal events and official duties, the King has decided that Clarence House will continue to be his London home throughout his reign.

According to palace officials, the decision will also help increase public access to the historic building, as security measures required when a monarch is in residence can restrict visitor numbers and access to certain areas.

Volunteer divers have revitalised the underwater trail at the wreck of HMS Colossus, a 74-gun Georgian warship that sank off the Isles of Scilly in 1798.

Commissioned by Historic England, the team cleared marine growth from key archaeological features including cannons, hull timbers and rudder fittings, while also installing new dive stations and updating the trail guide.

The project has also produced new photography and video footage, helping to bring the story of the wreck and its surrounding marine environment to a wider audience.

HMS Colossus served in several major naval campaigns before being lost in a storm. Today, the protected wreck remains one of Britain's most significant underwater heritage sites.

The Home Office is planning to expand the use of former military barracks to accommodate thousands of asylum seekers as part of its drive to close more hotels used for temporary accommodation.

Planning permission is being sought for Ministry of Defence sites in Bicester, Barnham and Linton-on-Ouse, which together could house up to 3,750 people awaiting decisions on their asylum claims.

The Government is also considering extending the use of existing accommodation sites in Essex and East Sussex.

The move comes ahead of new immigration reforms expected to be introduced in Parliament next week. Latest figures show the number of asylum seekers staying in hotels has fallen to 20,885 — the lowest level since records began in 2022 and down significantly from a peak of more than 56,000 in 2023.

That’s why so many of us stand with President Trump 100%. šŸ”„

John Swinney has rejected claims he was involved in an SNP ā€œcover-upā€ over Peter Murrell’s crimes, branding the accusations ā€œutterly and totally baselessā€.

The First Minister was challenged at Holyrood after Murrell was jailed for embezzling more than £400,000 from the party, with pressure mounting over what senior figures knew and when.

Swinney insisted no further investigation is needed and said the SNP’s financial governance has now been strengthened.
