✨ AfroFilms UK was proud to be part of the inaugural Access To Market event yesterday at L’Oscar, London. It was a groundbreaking initiative designed to bridge the gap between Black and Global Majority owned UK production companies and leading sales agents and distributors.

We joined an inspiring lineup including Altitude, Studiocanal, Hanway, Dogwoof, Embankment Films, Vertigo, Met Film, Blue Finch, True Brit, Other Parties, and We Are Parable.

We had the privilege of being pitched to by some of the UK’s most exciting Black and Global Majority owned production companies a powerful showcase of the talent and creativity redefining the landscape of British film.

Thank you to & Filmexport for creating space for important conversations and real opportunities. We’re excited for what’s ahead. 🌍🎬

✨ Wrapping Up an Incredible EFM! ✨

Berlin was a whirlwind of connections, insights, and unforgettable moments at the European Film Market! Grateful to have met and engaged with some amazing industry figures, including Topsy, Danica, Adeya, Effie T Brown, Dana Sims, Victoria Thomas, Zubi Muhammad, and Cheryl Dunye, as well as the BFI Diversity & Inclusion team and the inspiring creatives at Afro Berlin.

I had the opportunity to connect with powerhouse distributors, FilmExport UK, and so many brilliant filmmakers pushing boundaries. Attending panel discussions, and of course, the Screen UK party and other industry events made for some truly memorable night!

EFM was a reminder of the power of networking, collaboration, and championing Black faces in film on a global stage. Excited for what’s next!

Maskelah Gabriel-Adams is the founder of AfroFilms UK, a film sales company dedicated to elevating Black British films on the global stage. An academic and film enthusiast, Maskelah holds a BA in Filmmaking and an MA in Film Distribution and Marketing. Her industry experience includes interning with GFM Animation at Marché du Film in Cannes, as well as producing the documentary Ceilings of Glass. AfroFilms UK reflects her commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices and connecting Black British filmmakers with international audiences.
