South Korea’s former first lady Kim Keon Hee has been sentenced to 20 months in prison for corruption after a court found her guilty of receiving luxury gifts in exchange for business favours.
The ruling comes as her husband, former president Yoon Suk Yeol, awaits a verdict on rebellion charges linked to his brief declaration of martial law in December 2024.
Kim has been in custody since August and is expected to appeal the sentence.
