Hello to you all.
I just wanted to pop a note on here, to explain where I am right now.
One or two may miss the Bus!!
Perhaps.
Over the last eight months, my mental health has taken a dip and despite my love for Proggy music and the love of making a radio show, I just found myself unable to do it justice. I have been able to keep The Country Mile going but even with that, keeping the social media side of things up to date, has been tricky. Ever since the b'stard stole my profiles and several years of work to build things up, that also stole my mojo.
I had time off work for four months, while dealing with migraines and all kinds of side effects.
Also, without going too deeply here - and I certainly am not after any further debate please - I discovered a section of the Prog world, artists and supporters, were far away from where I am with my views on the world. To be called a '100% racist' by an organiser of a UK Prog weekender because of who I voted for and more recently, as seen elsewhere on this page, a UK musician saying I wasn't the sort of person he wanted as a fan, for simply offering an alternative view to his nasty posts......it left me wondering if I need to be bothered to keep going. I agree and disagree with many people but have always kept it civil, as it should be. Its been very hard to take when some go WAY over the top and act FAR worse than those they delight in hating.
I do plan on coming back though, hopefully in July and thank you especially to Jan at Epic Prog Radio for his help and understanding on this.
The Prog Bus will be a bit different though!
I have found getting a two hour show together, even if its only every other week, became almost a chore. This is due to having that week long gap, then having to spend two or three days catching up with longer songs!
I feel that an hour long show, hopefully every week, with mean I can listen as things come in, set up playlists easier and plan ahead, so that is the plan. Might be every other week to get me back up and running.
I'll also make it a bit different with the playlist. Obviously melodic Prog will be the main thing but if I find a Not Prog song, it'll be added, if I find an older track I like, I'll add it. There will still be a Classical moment. Basically, I'll add what I want to add, with the plan to still appeal to those who have always enjoyed what I do.
I also think having a one hour show, will mean more people can 'listen again' much more easily. Having the time to hear all the longer shows is tricky! So I am hoping a shorter, sharper hour, will mean people can check it out 'on the go'.
Hope this all makes sense, thanks again for all the support and lets look forward to more journeys on The Bus sooooooon!
