Dad (Richard Lack) fished a local match on Sunday and I tag along for a watch!! Dad wanted to fish the silvers from the start as there was payout for first for silver and first for carp. He knew he had to be in a few certain pegs to have a chance for a good few of the carp as it can be very Peggy. So the slivers would be a very good option. he quickly prepped up his bait sorted out a few rigs and kept it simple. He had a simple maggot and castor line which he was topping up with ground bait(bait-tech supernatural lake dark) throughout the match also he was swapping and changing between red and white maggots and even loose feeding caster as well just to keep bites coming every so often it did dry up for a few minutes quick change of a few items and rig pattern and he soon got them going again. He even feeding pellet to a small pellet line to the side just in case of a quick bonus carp or two! But nothing was happening so he swapped back continued fishing for the Rudd! But kept on feeding 4mm So Simple Baits Community pellet but we was only in about 3 foot of water and it seemed to be the carp were out further in deeper water perhaps! he kept on plugging on to the end of the match!
He put on the scales 18lb 8oz of Rudd! All 144 of them(he did want 150 minimum but he knew he would’ve liked more 😝)
For someone that hasn’t fished in such a long time he was over the moon just being out fishing, but I have a cracking day of silvers you can’t beat it!
I definitely learn a lot by watching and walking round the lake and watching the others fish as well
