Waiting for Jo to get ready, so I am sat at a bar next to the hotel. It's a real 1980's style Spanish bar that serves delicious tapas. I absolutely love these type of rustic places.

☔️ It’s been a very wet 2 days on the Costa Blanca, but luckily our timing worked out perfectly — we’re heading to visit family on the Costa del Sol, where the forecast for the weekend is ☀️

We broke up the drive with an overnight stop in the coastal town of Roquetas de Mar. The sun’s shining, the sea breeze is warm, and there’s a cold beer in hand — can’t ask for more! 🍺🌊

Crazy loud thunder followed by a government alert advising to stay in!

Making the most of the sunshine today before the storms hit Spain for the next few days.

✨ 10,000 steps of sunshine and sea views! 🌊
Today’s walk took us from Torre de la Horadada to Puerto Marina de las Salinas, and it’s definitely one to add to your list if you love coastal walks. The whole route hugs the beach with plenty of spots to stop, dip your toes in, or grab a quick refreshment along the way apart for the last half hour where it's just beach. ☀️👣

We ended at Bar 19 in the marina —which we think is a new spot right by the boats. ⚓️🍹
Pints €3.50 and six beers in a bucket for €12 — you can’t beat that! Treated ourselves to some curly potato bravas which was a good sized portion for €3.50.A nice atmosphere, friendly staff, and the perfect reward after a long walk. 🥂

About 12,000 steps into our beach walk from Torre de la Horadada, we stopped at one of our favourite bars for a quick drink. The coastal path has plenty of spots like this, making it an easy and enjoyable walk.

Not the smoothest start to our trip — a 4-hour delay thanks to the fog. Ryanair kindly gave us a £3 food voucher… so the challenge now is seeing what kind of feast we can put together for that price 😂

We spent yesterday in the Okehampton area and found two places that couldn’t be more different but are both worth a stop.

First was Finch Foundry, a 19th-century water-powered forge where you can still see massive hammers and wheels in action. At its peak it produced thousands of edge tools every year, and the demonstrations really bring the noise and atmosphere of the old workshops to life.

From there we went on to The Highwayman Inn, which has a reputation as one of the quirkiest pubs in England. Every corner is crammed with curiosities, antiques, and themed décor — it feels more like stepping into a museum or film set than a pub.

If you’re visiting Okehampton or passing through West Devon, these two spots are well worth adding to your list.

We’re starting to plan our next big adventure for January/February next year. At the moment, we’re considering the Philippines, Sri Lanka, or Malaysia. We’d love to hear your thoughts on these destinations and any recommendations you might have!

We had a lovely walk today exploring the beautiful and historic village of Cockington, a real hidden gem in South Devon. Just a mile inland from Torquay’s lively seafront, yet it feels as though you’ve stepped back in time to a peaceful rural hamlet.

The village is full of charm, with quaint thatched cottages, narrow winding lanes, and a timeless atmosphere that makes you forget you’re so close to the English Riviera. At the heart of Cockington is the Manor House, now home to craft studios where you can watch local artisans at work. The surrounding country park and lakes are perfect for a relaxing stroll, and the traditional village pub and tearooms make for a welcome stop along the way.

Whether you’re visiting for a gentle walk, a bit of history, or simply to soak up the scenery, Cockington is a place that captures the very best of Devon’s heritage and charm.
