SO WHAT IS “ATTER'S MUSIC”?
,” Our ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and the test of our civilization.” Gandhi
I was watching TV, I was about 14 going on 15 [1980/1] and it was one of the most enlightening experiences I've had, I was watching Ian Dury & The Blockheads, I had not long been introduced to people like the Specials, Selector, Clash [MY FAVE PUNK BAND] as well as the Stranglers [MY OTHER TOP PUNK FAVES] and many more, I saw Ian Dury climb out of my TV and in his London accent said,” I'm talking toy YOU son.” That's how I felt, since then I've loved Punk, Ska, 2 – Tone and that whole 1977 – 83 sound, it's why I bang on & on and say things like,” Form a band.” And,” If you want material read the paper, look at the news, as well as Facebook, Twitter and so on, it's ALL there.” I have NEVER been in a time when this or SOMETHING like this is needed, one day one of the owners of Stiff Records, a independent record label that had some cream of this scene bands & act, walks into the reception, he'd notice a the red Porsche outside, as he looks over the reception there's two men wearing Armani suits, the receptionist says,” They're from Sony Records.” He approaches them and asks,” Why are you here?” They reply,” We're from Sony Records and we want to BUY you record company.” He give it some thought and replies,” Look! I got Madness in the studio about to come out as I've just seen Ian Dury & The Blockheads coming down the road to use the same studio, if I was you I'd get on my toes and p**s off.” They got up just as Madness came out of the studio and as they left Ian Dury was walking in, they soon did one as recommended, that's what I'm talking of.
This scene is getting quite a full on one and there's A LOT of different manners and mannerism coming in & out, yes we FULLY support many causes/life styles and so on, I myself ISN'T political I am all about love, unity and COMMUNITY and that is how it will be run, I AM doing this,” For the LOVE of it.” I believe we've ALL damaged the harmony in this city/scene and we ALL must repair it, it is important to me as I know what anger & hate does to you REALLY, I was addicted to it for MANY years & still struggle with it and got NO were, I am a down to earth geezer with a HUGEEEE passion for this music, music is SOOOO important and it is a MASSIVE way of expressing ourselves, but & I mean a HUGE but it HAS TO be love & unity, I'm not talking some Hippy s**t, but REAL, I believe the anger should be in the MUSIC and not in people, yes it needs to be express by people but we need to give love & unity the MAIN passage way, as I said,” For the LOVE of it.” That's my payment.
I will do my best to sort gigs in festivals and gigs, I have plans to do a small tour of Atter's Music in the new year with one lot of three bands and another gig with three or four bands, Exeter, Totnes, Plymouth and a few in Cornwall and then a north Devon & Cornwall one as well, I'll help sell your merch from the site and at gigs as well and again NO payment will be needed, we have a fully kitted P.A. That is ALMOST ready to go, we have some monitors to pacify and we will be upgrading to a 16 channel mixing desk and will be supplied by Stand Up & B' Counted, we have sound engineers too and I have contacts to studios were we can actually record music, this is an on going project that I hope to have up and ready by this time next year, there's NO contracts, if your interested there's at the moment a FB page, so if you wish to follow, it will be were we show our gigs as well as merch & music and it's yours as well.
