✨ A little reminder that being a nail stylist is about more than pretty nails…
Today I welcomed a new client who came to me with a beautiful set from another salon and was ready for a fresh BIAB appointment.
As always, I removed the previous product completely before starting the new set. I do this not only to prepare the nails properly, but also to be able to see the natural nail underneath and check its condition.
And this is what we found on one of the nails 🦠
There was a greenish discolouration, which can be associated with bacterial growth, often occurring when moisture becomes trapped between the natural nail and the product.
I explained the situation to my client and, although she initially came in ready for a full BIAB set, we decided not to apply product over this particular nail.
We removed the existing product, carried out a gentle manicure and left the affected nail completely free from enhancement. The other nine nails were finished with a simple nail conditioner rather than a new enhancement.
I also gave my client advice on how to look after the nail at home, and we’ll see each other again once the nail has grown out and the issue has been resolved🤍
Because being a nail stylist isn’t just about creating beautiful nails.
It’s also about knowing when to say “not today”, putting the health of the natural nail first, and never covering up something that needs attention.
Pretty nails are important.
Healthy nails come first. Always. 🤍
