Independent whisky bottlers & online whisky magazine
** Cheshire Drinks Producer of the Year 2019 **
Our exclusive whisky releases, available online through GreatDrams.com/shop are all limited edition, and only available from us. Our business buys interesting casks of whisky from distilleries all around Scotland as they are maturing, to be held in duty suspension at a warehouse in Scotland that we release as and when the flavour profile is perfect and delivers on our quality assessments. Unlike m
ost of our competitors, all of our products are limited edition as they are all bottled from just one cask of whisky at a time, often with sub-300 bottles available of any given product upon release. GreatDrams Ventures is a business that provides customers with various whisky-based products and services including books, bottles of whisky and private whisky tastings. It is a product-based business spawned from the success of GreatDrams.com. Our backstory...
Editorially, GreatDrams is one man’s mission to experience, share and inspire with everything great about whisky/whiskey through stories, reviews, news, and interviews. GreatDrams was created having enjoyed single malt and blended whiskies over the years, and working with many whisky and other luxury spirits brands so Greg knew the drinks industry intimately from both sides. Over time he noticed how tough it can be for amateur tasters and collectors to enter the whisky world in particular and really get an understanding of all things malt (or grain, or rye…). This site’s aim is to democratise whisky and inspire consumers to explore flavours and brands within the market, never settling on just one favourite. The purpose of GreatDrams is to provide a platform with content for people new to drinks and those who are learning about whisky as much as those who are more experienced whisky fans because, ultimately, those interested in exploring this great drink are under-serviced by the whisky industry. GreatDrams is a place for positivity in a world where oftentimes misplaced contention for the sake of it, or to get a reason or seeming to be above others because there is a sense of anti-establishment in the tone. Away from GreatDrams, Greg also regularly writes for Whisky Magazine, Whisky Quarterly, Spiritus, The Evening Standard, The Independent, Liquor.com, Flaviar.com and various other magazines and online publications on an adhoc basis.

Christmas party. Whisky lined up. Poynton Whisky Club doing December properly.
Tonight’s cast, tagged and poured with intent.
Crested. Soft spice, toasted oak, easy confidence. The warm up act who always delivers.
Clean, modern, quietly sharp. London grit with proper balance.
Finnish Rye gin cask matured. Sweet vanilla, bright fruit, herbaceous and Irish charm turned up loud.
Big, bold, sulphury heft. Not here to make friends and we love it for that.
18. Polished, rich, patient. The grown up at the table.
Deep, dark, comforting. Christmas pudding energy in liquid form.
Holding the line for the home team. Familiar, festive, smoky Speyside.
Banter jumpers. Good mates. Serious drams. Exactly how a whisky club Christmas should look.

The Christmas Spirit.
Rich. Festive. Built for December nights. A proper Christmas dram that belongs on the table and under the tree.
Craigellachie Islay Cask.
Only the last few bottles are left. Smoky, powerful and proven to perform in retail.
Auchroisk Rye Cask.
A rare Speyside style with spice, fruit and real character. Ideal for gifting.
All are limited. All ship fast. Orders over £60 qualify for free UK delivery.

Big question: what happens to your body if you don’t drink for 30 days?
15/12/2025
Screen off. Bricks out.
Took a break from whisky to build whisky. Maker’s Mark in Lego form. Same shape. Same label. Same obsession with detail. A busman’s holiday done right. Hands busy. Head clear. Still thinking about whisky.

Proud parent / business owner moment. Proper one. Not really gotten around to telling too many folk but Kirsty and I did a thing and GreatDrams now sponsors our eldest Archie’s U9 football team… yep. Required FA approval for obvs reasons but we got there.
Kirsty and I love seeing Archie and his U9 teammates wearing their Richmond Rovers GreatDrams kit for each game and giving it their all on the pitch each week.
Grassroots football runs on parents, coaches, volunteers, and a lot of goodwill.
Greg is one of two managers who looks after the team. When not flogging in fields or the NEC he delivers a solid team talk, cheering and encouraging the boys through thick and thin, but Jake is the guy who puts the most graft in; making sure the organisational side of things is done, turning up every single Saturday to set the team up for the lads to get the most out of their time on the pitch.
Football teaches teamwork, resilience, respect, and turning up even when it is cold and muddy… or in a storm when the opposition refuses to postpone due to a bold bout of “character building”.
Watching these lads grow together beats any trophy (well, this year’s “World’s Best” at the World Whiskies Awards is up there to be fair). Massive respect also to the parents from all teams at grassroots level who make it happen every week. We are proud to back the team and even prouder to watch them play.

An upsettingly sobering read…
Tough economic forces are bearing down on whisky producers and the sectors which rely on them.

Christmas is coming fast. The question is simple. Have you sorted the whisky yet. If not, let family owned and run GreatDrams help…
Limited bottles. Big flavours. Proper gifts for people who love whisky. Once these are gone, they are gone.
Looks like it’s cask sample time at … what could this be and when might it be released?? Not any time soon, fear not, but it is an STR red wine cask matured single cask single malt we cannot wait to bottle and share with you…

Ten years ago… Kirsty understood the assignment. One bottle of Jameson. Numbers 1 to 24 written down the side. No doors. No miniatures. No fuss.
Lazy. Brilliant. Utterly perfect. The best advent calendar I have ever owned.
Celebrating the birthday I missed by not being born today. Any excuse for a dram. The jumper is festive. The logic is flawless. The whisky is well earned. If you ever need a reason to pour one, make one up. Works every time.

Today’s unboxing is a proper bit of rock and roll. Wolfie’s Blended Scotch Whisky straight from Sir Rod himself. Gifted to me because he clearly wanted my expert notes or maybe he heard my shirts are almost as iconic as his.
The label screams tour merch. The whisky has a sweet vanilla vibe with a cheeky kick that makes you want to belt out Do Ya Think I’m Sexy while pretending you’re centre stage at Wembley. Smooth. Playful. A rascal of a blend.
Got to hand it to Rod. The man can sing and he can pick a decent dram.
Actually a PR Gift, I assume not from the man himself. Graciously accepted regardless.
