One year ago today, the Government announced plans to reform Inheritance Tax reliefs on farms. 🚨❌

FG’s Tom Ryder says those changes could force farmers to sell off assets just to pay a tax that would raise around £500m a year; a figure which, in context, makes up less than 0.5% of UK annual debt repayments and less than 1% of annual defence spending.

🗣️ “A drop in the ocean for the Treasury, but everything to us.”

More incredible sheep trade! 🔥🐑

Swaledale rams continued to sell well at Hawes last week, where shearling rams met a 93% clearance rate with 16 at £10,000 or above and a top of £60,000.

Making top dollar was Ghyll House Pure Gold, the aptly named second prize large breeder's ram on day one from John and Ben Richardson, Ghyll House, Appleby.

It was knocked down to Messrs Handley, Gunnerfleet, Ingleton, and Richard Hutchinson, Redgate, Kikrby Stephen, with a share retained by Messrs Richardson.
