As a travel planner and someone who’s spent a lot of time in Disney parks, I’ve picked up a few tips that can seriously impact your trip..for better or worse. Here are my personal “I’d skip this” moments if you want a smoother, more magical holiday:
1. Watching parades from Main Street
Yes, it’s the classic spot, but it also comes with the biggest crowds and the longest wait!
I much prefer Frontierland: it’s quieter, there’s more shade, and you can sneak onto rides while everyone else is holding their parade spot.
2. Booking too many character dining experiences
They’re memorable, but they can be expensive, time-consuming, and a bit rushed. I’d choose one or two max, love, then keep the rest of your meals more relaxed.
3. Skipping a rest day on longer trips
Disney days are full-on! Having a slower day to recharge; whether that’s pool time, water park days or resort hopping, it makes a huge difference.
4. Going on Alien Swirling Saucers
This one’s a pass for me. Even with L you can end up waiting, and the jolts plus spinning isn’t exactly fun for us. There are plenty of other rides I’d choose first!
5. Waiting until you arrive to tap “I’m here” for mobile orders. A little hack: check in on the app just before you get there so your food is ready sooner.
6. Eating quick-service meals at peak times
The lunchtime and dinner rush can mean long queues, no seating, and unnecessary stress. We will try to eat earlier or later and enjoy shorter ride queues while everyone else is eating. A mid morning brunch & late lunch works for us!
