The Broken Child, Episode One
Juliet watched as her father pushed her mother to the wall and landèd her a veryh0y sl$p. The poor woman only cried, she was not strong like a man, she loved her husband and never wanted to fight back. All she did was cry while her husband continued to beát her up.
Juliet was not able to do anything, more especially because she hard a bad health condition, she could only hear and see, but she could not speak.
Juliet was naturally born without the ability of speaking. So there was no way she could speak out or call for the neighbors for help.
She was just 16, still growing up as a beautiful young woman.
Juliet could not bear watching her dad beat her mom, so she tried to help but she was also pushed to the ground by her father.
“Stay far away from this fight, your mother is a very stubborn woman and I will make sure I deal with her the way I want, and no one can stop me, not even the neighbors, so don’t bother going to get them.” Mr Kenneth said, pointing his finger towards his daughter.
Juliet quickly moved back with fears, she knew how cruel her father was, sometimes she asked herself if Mr Kenneth was truly her father. She has never got a chance to laugh with her father, because he was always cruel and scary.
Mr Ken continued to beat the poor wóman, until her was satisfied and left her crying.
“Next time if I tell you to prepare rice, you should prepare rice. Done ever try to prepare beans instead of rice, that beating is for going against my decision!!! Mr Ken shouted at his wife.
“Am sorry my husband, i didn’t mean to do that. Since the money was not plentiful, I decided to prepare the rice, the poor woman said.
“N0nsense, you are lucky am in a good mood, I would have ended you today, stupíd woman! Mr Ken said and Made his way out of the house.
Immediately Mr Ken left the room, Juliet quickly ran to her mother. She held her and began crying too. She could not say anything to her mother because she was born without the ability of speaking.
As she saw her mother cries, she wished she could speak, “maybe I would be able to tell her something that would make her feel better,” Juliet thought in her heart.
Miss Annabel has been married to Mr Ken for over 17 years. Her only crime was marrying a man she loved.
But her marriage was never going as she expected. She as always getting maltreatment, just for a little mistake.
Her husband was a man who cared less about his family. He was only interested in his own safety, drinking and partying with other women, then comes back home and maltreated how own family.
Miss Annabel was like the bread winner of the house, she took it upon herself to provide for the family, especially Juliet, her only children.
She would go the market and sell her brooms, that she made from her little farm.
Some of the people who knew her condition had advised her to leave the marriage but she hesitated. Claimed she still loved her husband and would do everything to make him happy.
That evening, Juliet boiled a little water and used it to massage her mother, who got bruised from the beating she received earlier.
“If I could talk, I would have told my mother to leave this marriage, my father is a wiçked man,” Juliet in her heart and continues.
Her mother looked at her and notice Juliet was not happy.
“I know you don’t like how your father is treating us, just be strong, I know one day he would change. Nothing is too hard for God to do, Miss Annabel said to her daughter.
The next day. Miss Annabel quickly arranged her stuff and prepared for market.
“Make sure you don’t get into trouble, I have prepared enough food for both you and your father.” She said to Juliet and Turns to leave.
But she was dragged back by her husband, scattering all the oranges on her bowl immediately.
“Where do you think you are going!” Mr Ken asked.
“My husband am going to the market to sell my remaining orange, so I can buy more foodstuffs.” Miss Annabel said while she began picking up her orange that was scattered on the floor.
“You are going to the market, but you have not washed my clothes, are you expecting me to wash them ?” Mr Ken asked.
“No, sorry my husband, i never knew your clothes were dirty. I will do that immediately I sell the orange.
Mr Ken got angry immediately, “immediately you sell the orange?”
He moved further and dragged her closer to himself, giving her a very resounding slap. The slap was too strong, Making her to fall on the ground.
Juliet watch again, her father was beating up her mòther again. But there was nothing she could do then cry.
She only wished she could talk, maybe she would speak sense to her mother, she married the wrong man. She was sacred one day her mother not survive his maltreatment.
“Stúpid woman!! Make sure you wash those clothes, make sure they are neat as snow or I will kíll you myself,” Mr Ken said
