DAY 1 of teaching Claude to become our video editor… and things are already getting interesting. 😂

The last video was just an experiment.

We gave Claude a raw dump of our footage, asked it to cut the fluff, tighten the edit, add captions + sound effects… and somehow, it actually worked.

That made us wonder:

What if we actually trained it?

Not just “edit this video.”

But slowly teach it how WE edit — our pacing, cuts, captions, sound effects, B-roll, colour grading and all the tiny decisions that currently make one Reel take us 3–4 hours.

So this is officially Day 1.

There were mistakes.
There were questionable decisions.
There were definitely bloopers. 😂

But that’s the point of this series.

We’re documenting the process from scratch — what works, what fails, what we prompt it with and whether we can genuinely build an AI editing workflow that saves creators hours.

Can I actually teach AI to edit my Reels for me? 👀

Because right now, one talking-head Reel can take us 3–4 HOURS to edit… and honestly, that’s becoming impossible to sustain alongside a full-time job, travel and everything else. 😭

So we’re starting a little experiment:

Teaching Claude to become our video editor. 😂

For Part 1, I kept it ridiculously simple.

I gave Claude a raw dump of the footage — pauses, mistakes, repeated sentences, awkward gaps, unnecessary fluff… everything.

And asked it to turn that into an actual Reel.

It:

✂️ identified and removed the fluff
🗣️ tightened the talking points
⏱️ cut awkward pauses and dead space
📝 added captions
🔊 added sound effects
🎬 helped turn the raw footage into a much tighter edit

And this video is the result.

Is it perfect? Definitely not yet.

But that’s exactly why we’re making this a series.

We don’t just want AI to randomly edit videos. We want to see whether we can slowly teach it OUR editing style — how we pace our videos, what we cut, what we keep, where we use sound effects, how we caption things and eventually how we want the finished Usonabreak Reel to feel.

And if we can get it right… this could potentially take a 3–4 hour editing process and make it dramatically faster.

NEXT EXPERIMENT: COLOUR GRADING. 🎨

In Part 2, we’re going to see whether we can teach Claude how we want our footage to look and get it to help colour-grade the video consistently.

And after that? B-roll, visual references, pacing, transitions… we’re going to keep pushing it until either:

Claude becomes our editor… or we give up and go back to Final Cut Pro. 😂
