From Passion to Platform - The Founder’s Story

Music Gateway is the brainchild of our CEO & Founder, Jon Skinner. His eureka moment came to him mid-bath (seriously!) whilst thinking back on his career in music and the struggles he had. The struggles getting the funding for the cost of new music, getting the right people into the studio, getting his music heard by the right people and the other pain points that generally come from the music industry.

At this point, Jon had come out of the music industry and was running a successful tech company within the nightclub photography world. It was this experience combined with his music career past that spurred him to create the ultimate platform for creatives. And so from humble beginnings started a company with a humble goal; empower creatives.

Jon loves supporting artists, songwriters, producers, because understanding their struggles is part of his make up: Jon’s experience spans 27 years across the industry starting as a House DJ and progressing into production and writing before owning several labels and a publishing company.
