Ashworth Valley is one of Rochdale’s best-kept secrets 🌿

It’s the perfect place for a peaceful walk, just on the edge of town. And within minutes, you’ll forget you’re on the doorstep of Greater Manchester.

Choose from different routes that take you through dappled woodland, along crystal-clear streams and up to elevated hillside ridges.

Keep your eyes peeled along the way. Hidden steps, old stone bridges and crumbling ruins are tucked throughout the valley, just waiting to be discovered.

Our route brought us out right by the Bridge Chippy – ideal for fuelling up after a walk. Or head into Norden where there’s no shortage of pubs to raise a well-earned pint šŸŗ

What better place to come for a weekend wander?

A beer garden with a view ā˜€ļø

The sun’s finally arrived in Rochdale, and there’s no better place for it than beautiful Blackstone Edge.

Take your pick from rugged moorland paths. Or just soak it all up with a cold pint at The Moorcock - Blackstone Tavern & Kitchen glorious beer garden.

These guys know how to do pub food too. We definitely recommend the burgers, but the buffalo corn ribs, pork belly bites and MASSIVE mozzarella sticks stole the show 🤤 (No time to film them - they were gone in moments šŸ˜‚)

Ahead of International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, we were proud to attend today’s Progress flag raising at Rochdale Town Hall šŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ

Departing Mayor, Janet Emsley gave a brilliant speech celebrating inclusion, community and standing together, followed by a powerful reading from the talented Beth Kilgallon from the Rochdale Youth Service.

There’s a snippet of Beth’s poem on our video, we’ll post the full piece in the comments.

Together, Beth and Janet raised the Progress flag, now proudly flying outside Rochdale Town Hall as a symbol of visibility, support and pride for our LGBTQ+ communities.

Afterwards, everyone came together for refreshments, conversations and a real sense of unity - one of those moments that reminds you exactly what Rochdale is all about šŸ’›

Finally, a good pint of Guinness in Rochdale! šŸŖ‰

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll have seen everyone going mad for Guinness over the past few years.

While we’re not quite in ā€˜splitting the G’ territory, we do love a good pint of the black stuff when we can find one šŸ‘Œ

We’ve been to Ireland and tried the very best. The usual pint you get in England just doesn’t compare.

But we reckon The Oxford’s is the closest thing to an Irish Guinness you’ll get in Rochdale… maybe even Greater Manchester.

Genuinely curious if anyone can recommend a better pint of Guinness in Rochdale though! Let us know in the comments – or tag a mate that needs to give this one a try
