CCRFC Men’s and Women’s:
*The Value of Welcoming New Players*
Rugby is more than just a sport—it’s a community. Every player who has ever pulled on a jersey for this team started out as a beginner, and someone gave them the chance to learn, make mistakes, and grow into the game.
When new people come along—whether they’re from football, another sport, or with no sporting background at all—it’s an opportunity. It’s a chance to share the game we love, to build connections, and to strengthen the future of the club. Not everyone who tries rugby will stick with it, but those who do may become valued teammates, friends, and part of the family we’ve all created together.
Yes, training with new players can sometimes feel different. The drills may be slower, the focus may shift, and there may be moments that don’t feel as sharp. But investing a little patience now is how we ensure the team continues to grow and thrive. The more welcoming and encouraging we are, the more likely people are to stay—and the stronger our squad becomes in the long run.
We’re all here because someone once welcomed us in. Let’s do the same for the next generation of players.
If your interested in joining in on our Rugby training sessions please feel free to come along
Boys on Wednesdays at 7pm and girls on Thursdays at 7pm at Cliffe Rec behind the memorial hall. We’d love to see you there
