5 things I DON’T do to create a beautiful garden 🌸
Because creating a lush garden doesn’t have to mean doing everything the expensive or “perfect” way.

I love plants, but I also love a sale 😂
I regularly buy reduced plants, wait for offers, shop around and pick up bargains when I see them.
That doesn’t mean buying something just because it’s cheap. It still has to work in the garden.
Buying every plant at full size would get expensive very quickly.
I use a mix of seeds, plug plants, bare roots and established plants depending on what I need.
Sometimes I’m paying with time instead of money and I’m absolutely fine with that.
Some parts of my garden are still very much a work in progress.
I’m happy to use temporary planting, move pots around or live with an imperfect area while I work out the bigger plan.
A garden doesn’t have to be “finished” to be beautiful.
If a plant doesn’t work in the scheme, I’ll move it, sell it or give it away.
Keeping something in the wrong place purely because I spent money on it usually just means I stay unhappy with the space.
Sometimes changing your mind is part of the design process.
Plants die. Seeds fail to germinate. Dahlias rot. Combinations sometimes look completely different from what I imagined. 😂
I’d rather show that side too, because the beautiful bits are usually the result of a lot of trial and error.
