They donāt care about your job title.
They donāt care how much you earn, or how many emails you answered, or whether you hit your targets this month.
To themā¦
youāre home. Youāre their safe place. The cuddle after a bad dream. The person they look for when they fall over. The face they scan the room for.
And thatās exactly why handing them over to someone else so you can go to work can feel so painfully heavy š„ŗ
Not because nursery is bad.
Not because grandparents donāt love them.
Not because childcare isnāt valuable.
But because you know that, to them, youāre everything š„¹
People tell us weāre replaceable at workā¦ And theyāre right!!
Someone else can cover your shift. Someone else can answer your emails. Someone else can fill your role.
But no one can replace you in the eyes of your child š„¹
Thatās the guilt so many working mums carry. The guilt of knowing the place they want you mostā¦
is the one place society tells you to leave.
Itās also the reason Iām building something different.
Not because I donāt want to work, but because I refuse to spend my life being irreplaceable to the one little person who needs me mostā¦ while giving the best of me everywhere else š
