Pen Llŷn a'r Sarnau

Yr wythnos diwethaf fe groesawom Huw Irranca-Davies MS/AS, Dirprwy Brif Weinidog ac Ysgrifennydd y Cabinet dros Newid Hinsawdd a Materion Gwledig, i Borthdinllaen i gymryd rhan yn ein casgliad hadau morwellt blynyddol fel rhan o brosiect Morwellt Achub Cefnfor. 🌱

Roedd yn gyfle gwych i daflu goleuni ar bwysigrwydd adfer morwellt a thynnu sylw at y cydweithrediad y tu ôl i'r gwaith. Mae Morwellt Achub Cefnfor yn bartneriaeth rhwng Ymddiriedolaeth Natur Gogledd Cymru, ACA Pen Llŷn a'r Sarnau, Project Seagrass, Prifysgol Abertawe a WWF. 🤝

Wrth wraidd y prosiect mae'r cymunedau lleol a'r gwirfoddolwyr sy'n rhoi eu hamser, eu hegni a'u gwybodaeth. 💪👏.................
Last week we welcomed Huw Irranca-Davies, Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs, to Porthdinllaen to take part in our annual seagrass seed collection as part of the Seagrass Ocean Rescue project. 🌱

It was a great opportunity to shine a light on the importance of seagrass restoration and highlight the strenth of collaboration behind the work. Seagrass Ocean Rescue is a partnership between North Wales Wildlife Trust, Pen Llŷn a’r Sarnau SAC, Project Seagrass, Swansea University and WWF. 🤝

At the heart of the project are the local communities and volunteers that give their time, energy and knowledge. 💪👏

Fel un o’r rhywogaethau mwyaf deallus ar ein planed, maent yn enwog am eu natur chwilfrydig. Mae eu hymennydd yn fwy nag ymennydd dynol! 🧠

Mae Cymru yn gartref i nifer fawr o’r mamaliaid rhyfeddol hyn, efo’r boblogaeth fwyaf Ewrop yn Bae Ceredigion! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
Efallai y bydd gan unigolion lleoliadau maent yn ffafrio ac yn teithio i safleoedd penodol ar gyfer gwahanol dymhorau, paru a geni eu lloi.

Dolffiniaid trwyn potel y DU yw’r mwyaf yn y byd (mae eu maint mwy yn eu helpu i ymdopi â’n dyfroedd oerach) 🌊 ❄️

Mae dolffiniaid yn helpu i nodi iechyd y môr ac yn chwarae rhan sylweddol mewn cylchu maetholion. Maent hefyd yn denu twristiaid, gan ddarparu buddion economaidd i gymunedau arfordirol 🍤⛵️

Pan gaiff ei wneud o fewn paramedrau’r cod morol, mae mwynhau’r bodau rhyfeddol hyn yn eu hamgylchedd naturiol yn hudolus!

Species Spotlight✨

A species that needs little introduction, and is a feature of our Special Area of Conservation, the bottlenose dolphin!🐬

As one of the most intelligent species on our planet, they’re renowned for their inquisitive nature. Their brain is larger than a human’s!🧠

Wales is home to a large number of these wonderful mammals, with Cardigan Bay hosting the largest population in all of Europe! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
Individuals may have preferred sites, and often travel to specific locations for different seasons, mating and birthing their calves.

UK bottlenose dolphins are the biggest in the world (their larger size helps them cope with our colder waters) 🌊 ❄️

Dolphins help indicate ocean health and play a significant role in nutrient cycling. They also draw tourists, providing economic benefits to coastal communities 🍤⛵️

When done within the parameters of the marine code, enjoying these wonderful beings in their natural environment is magical!

𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗢𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀

Cyfle i ymuno â phrosiect Morwellt Gogledd ym ddoe gyda fy merch Lisa. Dyma brosiect arbennig lle cesglir hadau morwellt er mwyn eu plannu y flwyddyn nesaf i greu dolau morwellt yng ngogledd orllewin Cymru.

Diolch i dîm Pen Llŷn a’r Sarnau am eu gwaith caled ar y mater amgylcheddol bwysig yma.

An opportunity to join the North Wales Project in yesterday with my daughter Lisa. This is a project where seagrass seeds are collected in order to plant them next year to create new seagrass meadows in north west .

Thanks to the team at Pen Llŷn a'r Sarnau for their work on this vital environmental project.

It’s a traditionally busy time of year on the sea with lots of vessels around the coast. If you’re out on the water please remember to always follow the marine code by looking out for wildlife, keeping your distance and reducing speed and sound 🚤🏄🏻‍♀️ 🤝 🐬🦭

You can report disturbance of wildlife to the police on 101 ☎️

Yn ystod wythnos olaf mis Gorffennaf bydd prosiect Morwellt Achub Cefnfor ym Mhorthdinllaen ar gyfer ein digwyddiad Casglu Hadau Cymunedol🌱
Gyda chymorth llawer o wirfoddolwyr anhygoel rydym yn gobeithio casglu miliwn o hadau fydd yn cael eu defnyddio ar gyfer adfer morwellt yng Ngogledd Cymru. 💪
Fel rhan o weithgareddau'r wythnos byddwn ar y traeth brynhawn Llun felly dewch i ddweud helo! 👋......
During the last week of July Seagrass Ocean Rescue will be at Porthdinllaen for our annual Community Seed Collection 🌱
With the help of many amazing volunteers we hope to collect a million seeds which will be used for seagrass restoration in North Wales. 💪
As part of the week’s activities we’ll be on the beach on Monday afternoon so come and say hello! 👋
