A few months again I shared that I had been shortlisted for the PIA’s, the Pageant Industry Awards in the Pageant Newcomer of the Year category.

Last night I attended the awards at Sutton Coldfield Town Hall and I am very proud to announce that I won.

What made the award even more special was it was presented to me by Head Judge and my old school friend, Sally-Ann Fawcett, the UK’s Pageant Historian who I haven’t seen for 41 years.

She shared that I won the award for entering a pageant for the first time at 56 to show midlife women you are never too old it and it is never too late. Sally-Ann went on to mention the importance of the work I do to help midlife women with their business, life and body confidence.

Sometimes you need to hear others talk about you to know what you are doing is important.

Thank you to everyone who has supported my on my United Kingdom Galaxy Pageants journey so far, especially Pageant Director Holly Pirrie and the fab photographer that is Charlotte Clemie Photography. 😘 T🐝

These photographs of Donna Loveland have just shown up in my Facebook memories - this was 10 years ago today.

I supported Donna, as Chair of the Andrew McGeown Legacy Fund as I was at the time, with her first radio interview with Jules from BBC Radio York congratulating Rudi, Jason, Adam, Peter and Craig on their RNLI bravery awards received for their commitment on Sunday 22nd February 2025.

Donna also presented Rudi & John with the money raised at the Scarborough Pirates McGeown Memorial Match.

Who would have imagined as Donna, Simon and the team of Volunteers prepare to deliver SwimSafe on Scarborough’s North Bay today that Andrew’s legacy would have gone on to do all it has.

Tens of thousands of pounds have been raised by volunteers and through funding to deliver free SwimSafe programmes on the Yorkshire Coast to educate 1000’s of young people age 7 to 14 about the dangers of swimming in the sea and open water.

Well done to everyone involved. 🤗 T🐝

Back in June, Rachel and I were interviewed by Bek Homer on BBC York about the launch of AWWA- Accepting Who We Are.

Rachel and I wore our swimsuits, no surprise there, for the interview so Bek decided to join us in her bikini. She was pre-warned, she doesn’t wear a bikini everyday for work.

What you don’t see in the picture of the three of us is the absolute pressure Bek put herself through to do this. Why ? Because she has struggled with self-acceptance and body confidence since her early teens. This wonderful woman whose skills entertain us through the radio waves was emotional and physically shaking as she told Rachel and I her story.

Rachel and I were so moved we decided we wanted to take her on a journey to help her overcome this and make her midlife matter more.

We have enlisted Jackie Crawford Image Consultant and Mary Davies Photography to help us.

Yesterday we went along to Jackie’s studio near York for Bek to experience one of Jackie’s Image Spas. Bek’s skin tone, eye and hair colour, body shape, height and clothing style choice were all taken note of by Jackie as she worked her magic with swatches of colour and a portfolio of pictures.

Next stop, Mary and her camera…

Bek will be sharing her experiences and how she feels with you on her BBC Radio York show over the coming weeks.

This time last week I was swishing around Mallorca in swimwear and sparkly evening dresses. Why ? Because helping women make midlife matter is a huge part of the work I do and for me walking the walk as well as talking the talk is important.

Here I am in a Dress 2 Party dress ( loaned) as part of a Charlotte Clemie Photography Destination Shoot. Accepting who I am, my height, my body shape, my natural ageing and owning it is a key part of keeping my mental health fit and robust.

Don’t let society, media or those around you, sometimes those closest to you, dim your sparkle! 🤗 T🐝
