What a NIGHT. We filled Book Club Bar with a room full of gorgeous NYC singles for our very special BODA x Outlander: Blood of My Blood Bookshop Meet-Cute - and somehow managed to keep a pretty major surprise under wraps…

The cast popped in to meet everyone and join us for a drink!!! 🥹🥹🥹

The reaction when they walked in 😭 They chatted with our singles, jumped on the mic, hung out with everyone and made an already ridiculously fun night feel very, very special.

The room was absolutely BUZZING. Drinks flowing, people flirting and a LOT of numbers being exchanged.

PSA: most women don’t hate being approached. They hate being made uncomfortable.

You don’t need a perfect opening line. You don’t need to be ridiculously confident. And you definitely don’t need whatever questionable technique a man on a podcast taught you.

You just need to read the room, be normal, be respectful and know when to gracefully bow out because we got so scared of getting it wrong that we stopped talking to each other altogether.

And quite frankly… we’d like the meet-cute back.

Normalise flirting with strangers again.

Dating apps taught us to assess attraction through a screen. To wait for the perfect opening line. To treat every interaction like it needs to lead somewhere, but real-life chemistry has never worked like that.

It’s the eye contact across a room. The smile that lingers slightly too long. The completely unnecessary question because you just wanted an excuse to speak to them. The little spark of wondering, wait - are they flirting with me?

And sometimes they’re not interested. That’s okay too. A polite rejection isn’t a disaster, it’s just two humans having an interaction.
