Beginning this month, one of Castle Farm’s favourite traditions – Pick Your Own apple picking returns!!🍎🍎

Open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (10-5pm) until picked out, visitors are invited to visit our pretty little ‘Norfolk Royal’ Apple orchard and pick straight from the tree. Grown here for generations, this heritage variety is known for its juicy sweetness and exceptional flavour – a true seasonal treat and perfect eating apple.

The apple orchards are a beautiful spot for families and friends to enjoy the fresh air and seasonal fun. Whether you’re filling bags for lunchboxes or baking, the Norfolk Royal is a true local treasure. As the month goes on, early pumpkins begin to emerge across the fields, and from late September, visitors can enjoy the first early pumpkins and watch the farm shop displays transform for Autumn.

The Stag Sevenoaks NEEDS YOUR HELP!

We would love ALL of our Sevenoaks Panto fans to contact Sevenoaks District Council - and here’s what you can do do help…

*IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM ANDREW EYRE, CHIEF EXECUTIVE, STAG THEATRE*

Sevenoaks District Council (SDC) is holding a meeting on 2nd September about the future of The Stag.

The District Council is being abolished and being taken over by a new Unitary Authority based away from Sevenoaks. We are talking with the Town Council and the District Council about the future of The Stag.

The District Council aims to offer a 100-year lease to Sevenoaks Town Council (STC). The Town Council and The Stag want them to let the freehold stay in local control by transferring ownership locally to the Town Council. The new lease proposes that the Town Council – and therefore everyone in Sevenoaks - take on considerable liabilities without any benefits. The Town Council and the Charity want to invest in The Stag in the future and it has exciting plans including extra seating, an art gallery, increased toilets and improved access to all front of house and backstage areas.

These significant long-term investments won’t be possible unless The Stag is owned and managed locally. Why would a remote and very large council authority a long way from Sevenoaks care about The Stag and how the local people of Sevenoaks have supported and saved it. The Stag would simply represent an asset to milk – with rent rises leading to The Stag becoming commercially unviable. Theatres are going dark across the country, help us stop the possibility of this happening in the future in Sevenoaks.

The District Council claims The Stag is valuable enough to sell now – even with ten years left on its lease, planning restrictions and with the support of the people of Sevenoaks and beyond behind it. The Town Council and The Stag are very happy to sign profit-protection agreements in case circumstances change and the building is sold in the future.

The Charity and the Town Council (with support from the District Council itself) has invested more than £1,500,000 in capital spending for new and improved equipment as well as separately maintaining the building year on year. We hope the District Council reconsiders its position and on 2nd September votes to release the freehold of The Stag to retain local control, ensures the Sevenoaks community retains this local cultural facility with continued investment for future generations - and most importantly avoids any opportunity for it to be considered for development.

You can make your voice heard by writing to [email protected] (ref: Finance & Investment Committee) and direct to your District Councillor (check on www.cds.sevenoaks.gov.uk/mgMemberIndex.aspx?bcr=1 for where you live). Do let me know your thoughts as well by copying me in (at [email protected]).

Please help us to ensure the voices of Sevenoaks are heard.

Yours sincerely
Andrew Eyre
Chief Executive
The Stag Theatre
