Austria's Koralmbahn was inaugurated on 12 December, with public services on the 130 km high-speed line from Graz to Klagenfurt commencing on 14 December. The centrepiece of the project is the 32.9 km Koralm Tunnel, Austria's longest railway tunnel. The €5.9 billion railway reduces the Graz – Klagenfurt journey time to 41 minutes (previously two hours by bus) and Wien – Klagenfurt to 3h10, while Wien – Venezia is cut by 30 minutes to 7h10. The Wien – Klagenfurt service has been increased from 10 trains per day to 26, with all services running via Graz.
