Visiting the machines on the L'Ile de Nantes - a definite highlight of a trip to Nantes - and I'm not even twelve!

I can see ✈️ flights on the Ryanair website to Nantes from London from around £20 right now, EVEN IN AUGUST! So a great school holiday option.

Or if you don't want to fly, there's a London to Paris Flixbus to help get you on your way, yes, I've done that twice, survived, and still have the tales to tell!

This place bowled me over, reminding me of Cappadocia - I visited long before the insta crowd and hot air balloons found it.
It's Vardzia, Georgia, close to the Turkish border. A city built underground designed to keep 50,000 people safe over 19 floors and built in the 12th century!
