So, what do you think of South Middlesex?

The vote has happened. The proposed name for our new council is West Surrey and South Middlesex Council, and the name is now with the Government for consideration.

But where did South Middlesex come from? And why does Russell Grant care so much about bringing the name back?

Back in May I sat down with Russell to talk about Middlesex, its history, its identity and why he believes the name still matters.

𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟏𝟐𝐭𝐡 – 𝐆𝐑𝐈𝐓 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬

Three events. Three days. And so many incredible people coming together to raise money and help us create special memories for children with cancer and their families.

To everyone organising, volunteering, taking part, fundraising, sponsoring or supporting these events behind the scenes, THANK YOU!

We never stop being amazed by the community that continues to get behind Holly’s Heroes and Holly’s legacy.

Next weekend is going to be a big one… let the countdown begin!

The first of two Patient Cancer Support Group monthly cancer support meetings this month is taking place at Shepperton Medical Practice this coming Tuesday 8 September at 1.30pm - everyone is welcome.

September is cancer awareness month for so many and although they have their individual months, these are also highlighted under ‘an umbrella’ of various areas of the body and connected in some way such as Gynaecological: ovarian, cervical, vaginal, womb; Urological: bladder, prostate, testicular; Blood cancers: Myeloma, Leukaemia, Lymphoma; and Thyroid and Hereditary cancers. There will be a brief talk from patients affected by them.

Our second meeting is at the new Macmillan Cancer Centre at Ashford Hospital on Tuesday 22 September from 12noon to 1pm.

If you have been affected by cancer, come along for a relaxed and friendly chat with other patients and you can also find out what we do as a support charity, including our main meeting and various outings we organise throughout the year.
