🎧 DJ MYTHS: LET’S HAVE A LITTLE CHAT… 🎧
❌ “A DJ just presses play.”
Absolutely. In the same way a chef just heats things up and a photographer just presses a button. Easy, really… 😏
❌ “The cheapest DJ will do.”
They might.
They might also arrive with two flashing lights, a speaker held together by hope and a music collection that mysteriously ends in 2014.
Choosing the cheapest DJ can quickly become the most expensive mistake of your celebration, because once the room is empty, the atmosphere has disappeared and your guests are checking taxi times, you can’t buy the night back.
❌ “A playlist can do the same job.”
Of course... assuming your playlist can read the room, take requests, make announcements, rescue a quiet dance floor and stop your uncle playing a seven-minute album track.
❌ “Louder means better.”
No. Louder means louder.
Professional sound should be clear, balanced and suitable for the room. Your guests should feel the music—not feel as though they’ve been parked beside a jet engine.
❌ “All DJs are basically the same.”
Some DJs play the songs they like.
Experienced DJs play the right songs for the people standing in front of them—and know when the right song has suddenly become the wrong one.
❌ “The DJ can set up anywhere.”
Behind a pillar? In another room? Next to the kitchen doors?
Perfect… if you want the atmosphere of a service station waiting area.
A professional DJ brings far more than music and lights. It takes planning, presentation, reliable equipment, technical knowledge, crowd psychology and years of experience making split-second decisions.
I don’t simply turn up and press play. I plan the experience, read the room and keep the celebration moving, while making it all look effortless.
So yes, you can save money by booking the cheapest option.
Just make sure you’re happy potentially paying for it with an empty dance floor. 😉
